The Legendary “Grease” The Musical | Jakarta
Grease is more than just a show; it is a global cultural phenomenon. A true powerhouse of the entertainment world, it boasts 8 Academy Award wins, 10 nominations, and a Tony nomination for Best Musical. Its legacy is cemented in music history, with an Original Soundtrack that dominated the Billboard 200 and worldwide sales exceeding 30 million copies. From the Guinness World Record-breaking success of "You're The One That I Want" to the Academy Award-nominated "Hopelessly Devoted to You," the production is packed with timeless hits like "Grease," "Summer Nights," and "Greased Lightnin'." Bringing a production of this magnitude to the Jakarta stage required a strategy as iconic as the show itself, ensuring that every beat resonated with the local audience while maintaining its legendary international standard.

SOCIAL MEDIA
The objective was to establish a high energy content creation team dedicated to reimagining the world of Grease for a digital first audience. By adopting an "educative entertainment" approach, the team decoded the 1950s subcultures, fashion, and musical legacy of the franchise, making it accessible and "meme-able" for younger generations while fueling the nostalgia of long time fans. Our strategy moved beyond simple clips, we placed creators who specialize in storytelling, using behind the scenes history, "get the look" style guides, and interactive musical challenges to drive organic reach. The goal was to transform Grease from a nostalgic memory into a trending, cross generational lifestyle brand that dominates the cultural conversation on TikTok, Reels, and beyond.

PR & MEDIA
For a production as iconic as Grease, our goal was to ensure the show remained at the absolute forefront of the cultural conversation through a high impact PR strategy. By leveraging strategic storytelling and deep industry connections, we secured massive organic coverage that began long before the first curtain call and continued well past the final bow. This effort resulted in a remarkable level of earned media, including featured spots on 3 major TV stations, each with 2 dedicated segments secured entirely for free and outside of our standard media partnership deals. This momentum culminated in a high profile press conference and an explosive event day response, generating over 44 unique articles and feature stories.

ACTIVATIONS
To ensure Grease was visible everywhere in Jakarta, we executed a series of targeted activations that met our audience in their daily lives. By moving beyond traditional ads, we created physical touchpoints in lifestyle hubs, sporting events, and high traffic urban areas. This ground level strategy was designed to drive direct ticket sales, trigger social media momentum, and create the "FOMO" necessary to keep the production top of mind for every demographic across the city.

BLOW JAMS ZODIAC X GREASE
Our collaboration with Blowjams event at Zodiac targeted the trendsetting youth demographic. This high energy activation not only drove direct on site sales but, fueled by influencer attendance, triggered a massive surge in social media engagement. This resulted in our strongest sales day of the month immediately following the event.

HALFTIME SHOW PERFORMANCE
We brought the energy of Grease to the IBL Basketball 2025 Home Game for Satria Muda. performing a high impact halftime show, we engaged a diverse, multi-generational sports crowd, driving significant traffic to our information stands and successfully converting spectators into new social media followers and potential ticket buyers.

VIDEOTRON - SUPPORTED BY DANA
For one week, we secured high-visibility outdoor media placements at two of Jakarta’s most strategic landmarks: Sarinah Thamrin and Senayan. These locations provided direct exposure to thousands of daily commuters, displaying essential show dates and ticket purchasing information in the heart of the city's busiest districts.

BRANDING AND COLLABORATIONS
We partnered with seven prominent Jakarta coffee shops, including Etera, Work Coffee, and Journalrisa, to serve as physical ticket hubs. This collaboration featured Grease branded products and strategic in store placement; three locations received full branding with roll up banners, while the others utilized streamlined QR T-stands for immediate ticket and merchandise purchases

PARTERSHIPS &SPONSORSHIPS
This project was built on a network of sponsors, media, and community partners that remained active from the early planning stages in November 2024 through the performance days and the final wrap up. These collaborations were maintained throughout the entire timeline to ensure consistent support across different platforms. By coordinating with various brands and local groups over several months, the project was able to maintain a steady presence and a strong connection with the community from start to finish.

SHOW DAY
The performance brought the 1950s rock ‘n’ roll era to life through a combination of live music, high energy choreography, and detailed technical production. Across the two day event, the stage featured live renditions of classic hits like “Summer Nights” and “Greased Lightnin’,” alongside a special appearance by Indonesian legends Andre Hehanussa and Tio Pakusadewo. The immersive atmosphere was built using period-accurate costumes and dynamic set designs of iconic locations like Rydell High and the Burger Palace Diner, attracting a notable audience of public figures and industry icons. While the live experience was supported by a lively band and headworn microphones to ensure a seamless flow, the production remained focused on delivering the nostalgic and electrifying energy that defines the world of Grease.

The production was powered by a dedicated team of 179 members, structured into two primary departments: Artistic and Non-Artistic. This manpower was engaged over an intensive 4 to 5 month period, beginning in October 2024 and continuing through the final performances in February 2025. This collaborative effort ensured that every facet of the musical, from creative direction to operational management, was fully supported by a specialized and committed workforce leading up to the show.
